Moving…

I stepped out of my house at 6:15am yesterday. The first time I had done this in a looooooooooong while and for good reason too. I was starting work in a new firm on Victoria
Island. Do i hear a groan? had been used to working on the mainland for a while now and at times I leave home at 7:20am and still make it to Ilupeju for 7:59am. Now, this is another kettle of fish, all in a bid to beat the notorious VI hold up. Made it for 7:20am.
Got out of the house this morning at 6:20am and got to the bus stop and gasped, too many people. Breathed a quick prayer and ‘lunged’ at a bus and though i was the last person to get to the bus stop, I was the first off!- No neighbourly thoughts at all, this is Lagos! I’m having to supress all feelings of guilt as I write……..
Made it early today!  So its settled, 6:15 has to see me out of my house. 5 minutes makes a whole world of difference.
All this because of better working conditions. but the mode of transport is still the same for now (all you who want me to buy a Peugeot 307, i dey come). It seems the danfo’s are the same but am I wrong if i say the drivers and conductors on the island are a bit more civil than mainland ones? I am yet to see (i know i’m only 2days old) any thug-like looking condos and all the ones i’ve seen have on their shirts (Buttoned up). hmmm VI makes a difference on the disposition of ‘workers’ in its domain.
Wont bore u with the details of my new station, but i’ll just say, Despite the stress of traffic “No wonder everyone wants to work in VI. or the Island”
