Like a Yo-yo!

Its been a while since I put finger to keyboard to put down my thoughts. Its not been for a lack of anything to write but perharps for the time to put down my musings. Wishing I could invent a ‘thought blogger’ :) a device attached to my brain to record my thoughts and help transfer them to my blog!
So much has happened, so much is happening and all this on a daily nay, hourly basis.
Ever sat in a danfo feeling grumpy waiting impatiently for a bus to fill up and find you on your way only for the very last passenger who you are expecting to suddenly appear and instead of breathing a sigh of relief you utter a groan. Why? He/She is double the size of the available seat and as the empty seat is right beside you, you dont imagine too long how that person is going to fit in. In a few seconds, you know. ;)
I remember one occassion where a very stout and thick man sat beside me and almost stopped me from breathing. There was absolutely no space and all my shuffling and shoving went unnoticed. I must have seemed like a spider in the grasp of an elephant. No kidding, the only thing I could do was groan and that went unnoticed. There was nothing we could do, there was absolutely no space left, so my already small frame had to become smaller.
I’ve sat in danfos on my way home (which is usually when I encounter traffic jams) and thought of how our leaders should be made to travel in these sardine tins called buses. I mean, the majority of the masses (ehn in Lagos sha!) have to ride in these things called buses, suffer & sweat in them, be exposed to all sorts of dangers (health inclusive ‘cos if you loathe having saliva -another humans, showered on you be advised not to enter a danfo! Worse still if you leave your mouth open ) . How then can some big men who travel around in what the Yorubas refer to as ‘Moto Ayokele’ then be sensitive to the plight of the masses?
They have never had the sweat of a fellow human being (who you’ve never met and will most likely never meet) seep through your clothing and ‘drench’ you.
Talking about fellow danfo mates! I’ve made a few friends (ehm acquaintances) in danfos. Met one convivial old man several times (when I leave the office early) who makes it a point of duty to greet every entrant. The first time I met him, my reply was guarded, I mean “Who does that in Lagos?”
