Was reading the Guardian online today and read that the recently deposed Minister of Works & Housing, Senator Ogunlewe is throwing his weight behind our President’s alleged 3rd term agenda.
I have to ask myself, “Is there something wrong with these sycophants?” They truly live on another planet and maybe not that far but certainly another Nigeria.
What has changed in the last 4 years that warrants another term? Anyway, that’s not the direction I wish to head off in.
Truly no one is in doubt that the elections were rigged but suffice to say that even though we realise that He did not play fair during the elections, if he had DONE WELL the whole of Nigeria (regardless of tribe, gender or status) would be out on the streets hooting for him to go on & not just a few pot-bellied fools.
It is not ethical for the President and all his greedy cronies to seek or even ask us for another term. It is not right! It is not constitutional! It is a mark of greed and the insatiable appetite for power and wealth. Wealth that is ours (every Nigerians) and which should actually be held in trust for us, but which has been converted to ‘personal’ money.
Haven’t these people gone back to their history books or newspapers? Have they not heard that nothing good comes of wanting to hold on to power for so long? Do they not realise that there is more to life than being in power and making life difficult for the people they are meant to rule?
This whole play reminds me of a little child fascinated with the light of a candle and who simply cannot resist the lambent object. His little hand is eventually pulled away, albeit not before it is burnt!
