I am back!

Apologies for my long absence….
I’ve been away from the blogosphere for a variety of reasons and I have enough excuses to cover 3 Olympic sized football pitches but I’ll spare myself ;)

Its amazing, I never did think I’ll be away this long. So much has happened and is still happening and I’m wondering how I’ll put down my thoughts coherently….
I’ll do that gradually in subsequent posts d.v but let me touch on the ubiquitous Lagos go-slow.
I was in my way home one evening (not too long ago) in a taxi (no comments pls!) and as we approached Ikoyi hotel we got stuck in traffic. It took us (i think 2 hours) to make it to the cause of the build up on the 3rd Mainland bridge (Before the turn-off to Ijora). By this time, I was hot, tired and quiet! I was TIRED and was relieved to see the end of the jam.

The taxi driver started a tirade in Yoruba about our lack of good governance and the problems with Nigeria. What caused the traffic? An advertising agency was using heavy equipment to put up a mega-sized billboard. He went on and on but I barely listened. One thing caught my attention and I wondered about it. He said “E ma je ko ya yin lenu pe awon mi a sun ni Hospital leni nitori hold up yi” (Dont be surprised that some people will be taken to hospital this evening as a result of the hold up)

I got home and barely made it into the house. An infection that had been dormant flared up
(amongst other things) and I was admitted in hospital that very night.
