I vacillated between titling this Transition or its present heading. Its been an eventful past 2 weeks. I have moved or transited to another form of transportation. Personal Transportation!!
Yeah instead of Danfos, Okadas , what else?, I now have the privilege and honor of riding around in private…. Emmm, thank you for the Congratulations! Oluwa lo se!
I finally capitulated to demands by family and friends and well… as they say its history!
I had to get a driver, (the reason why is a topic for another day) and with the new mode of transport come an entirely new lingua franca. “E ma bosi BRT lane” (Do not move over to the BRT Lane) I catch myself saying each time he deems our lane is too slow. I cannot afford 50k especially if it is into a LASTMA pocket (well, whatever pocket) and I really am paranoid about being caught on the wrong side of the law.
Once we get into the car, Mr. Joshua knows my run-off commentary by heart now (i think). “Se e ti tilekun?” – Have u locked the door?, cos I dont want any desperate or hungry policemen, LASTMA officials or area boys getting into the vehicle for whatever contrived offence they might cook up!
“E ti lo belt yin” – You have not put on your seat belt! Apart from safety, I dont want to be stopped by the police, Road safety officials or any other enforcement agency for “rufi-ing” (breaking the law).
“Die die” – move slowly – cos truly where in this world are we rushing to? and as you guessed right, I do not want to have to pay to repair anyone else’s car and even my own for an incident that could be best avoided!!!
Its interesting, nerve-wracking sometimes but nothing beats being able to settle comfortably in a chair (your own chair!) without squirming or subtly pushing to create more space for you!!!
Well I guess the title isn’t appropriate, there’ll probably be a Mr Joshua – Part 2 (a la Nollywood!)

Congrats mam!
The comfort is a very big relieve and something that confirms that having a car is a right and not a priviledge – lol. But u should start driving yourself and see what Mr. Joshua is going thru ….opps and lol very much.
Take car!!
