At the ATM!

Today, for the first time in my life, I watched as a machine dispensed cash I had requested for. Yes, Its the first time I have used an ATM….
Well not the first time I tried to, with problems with my cards, it had taken me a while to get the cards which had been issued months back (no time!), then had problems with one card , anyways i got to use it for the first time today!

On my way to the bank, where the ATM is located, I ‘talked’ to myself and hoped I would not do anything silly or spend too much time, anything that would point at the fact that i’m a newbie! (silly pride)

Anyways I get there and there is a queue, not long just 3 of us waiting. The guy inside spends so much time, that the other two fellas become impatient and knock at the door. What is he doing in there? How much time does it take? Finally after a long wait (for them) he comes out and he is almost pounced on…. I take it that he is new, I see the paper that accompanies the card with him and I just guess that he was going through and marvelling about this wonderful piece of machinery…
In less than 2minutes, its my turn. The other 2 fellas are obviously pros! I go in and thanks to my techie-mind, i change my pin first and then punch in the amount I want….
While i wait for the machine to proces my request, I’m like, hmmm where is the money going to come out from? Hope I can catch it in time…before it falls to the ground….
Just in time to answer my questions, i see my money appear from a slot and I calmly (not showing any excitement, me too i sabi) pick up my cash and step out.
One step out, I remember I’ve asked for a receipt and I forgot to pick it up…I interrupt the new user about to process a transaction, luckily I see it come out just in time (cos i dont know where to look) and I’m good to go!

    Way to go girl!

Initially after I read the first paragraph, I was like – “You are so retro! We’ve been using ATMs for more than two years now and you are just getting to use em? And we stay in the same country?” Okay until I read on.

    Nice experience!

(* I think my favorite punctuation is the exclamation mark! *)

Your last post was writen with so much honesty…..I nearly laffed my head off!!!
But it shows how backward the Third world countries are…..just using ATM machines, 30 years after it was first introduced in the UK.
