I was just thinking of commenting about the Supreme Court’s ruling and in effect reinstatement of Gov. Peter Obi of Anambra state. I heard later the next day and I was overjoyed.
Kai! seemed to me that the fortunes of Nigeria were changing. The ‘high and mighty’ Andy Uba could actually be pulled down! It was exhilarating and I could actually feel a wind of change blow through the country. With President Yar’Adua directing every agency involved to reinstate the ousted governor, this was more than luck, this was and is what we had been waiting for in a leader.
Our prayer at this point is that the House of Reps which is full of ‘vipers’ would actually be involved in supporting this governor from another party and look beyond personal and party interests to ensure that a ‘new’ Anambra state emerges. I cant wait for more judgements like this!
Well what broke my blog-thoughts was the news that Civil societies, etc have decided to go ahead with the strike on Wednesday. It seems like ‘Kai, I had thought President Yar’Adua had a magic-wand and was going to do something to prevent this strike from going on ahead as planned. There are many fundamental issues at stake, not least the shoddy elections that we had and truly it’ll take many months for a total overhaul of the system.
With these strikes, it seems the masses are the ones who suffer!
It started out with good news to talk about but now i dont know!
