Robbers?

My last post mentioned I now close late. I forgot to mention that one day in the week it will be as late as 7:30pm, imagine. Anyways, on to my post. I had just turned into my driveway yesterday night and got out to open the gate. My little daughter had refused to sleep or sit put in her chair so I picked her up and got down.
As I opened the pedestrian gate, I suddenly heard 3 loud gunshots in quick succession. A man who was walking towards me suddenly picked race in the opposite direction. Trust me, me sef pick leg. I had no idea where the shots were coming from but they sounded close enough. I had left the car running and the lights were on but I had the presence of mind to lock the gate after me.
I rushed to my neighbours flat where I proceeded to shake like a leaf. Kai, my car was gone o! I lamented in my mind – these thieves will just have a free getaway vehicle. I had only 15naira in my purse but oooooo the keys to my flat were in it o!

After a while and a few more shots my neighbour concluded the shots were from outside the estate gates (which had been locked). He persuaded me to go out and get the car while he held the gates open. I had by this time safely deposited my daughter with his wife. I ‘picked’ race to enter car and another speedy racer move saw me inside the compound in 1 second flat :) by this time I was shaking so much. I still have an ache on the left side of my body from all the shaking. (Dont mind me o! I have never seen thieves before)

Thank God Toluwalase was out of the car, she is usually asleep by the time we get in and I would have gotten down without her. Anyways I doubt that I would have left her o! I would have run back to get her o! Hmmm do you know what I went through before and after I had her ;) lol!

Leaving the car was the right thing abi? At least myself and my baby were safe? Cars are replaceable. I’m curious what would you have done? Ehn! answers from only those who’ve had a near-experience cos its easy to talk when you’ve never seen or heard a robber!

my dear, life is a million times more precious than any material valuables… you did the right thing – ensure the safety of lives first… property later. may the good Lord continue to watch over us and give us the wisdom to make the right decisions/choices at the “moments of truth”.
