I seem to have developed a habit of remembering things that happened a long time ago. This involves words spoken, actions taken and sometimes I wonder why I remember even tiny details.
My Dad said many years ago “You can learn from anything and anybody including watching a mad man mutter nonsense” Of course I discounted such words. Then, Kilomode mo? (What did a child like me know)…Now I know better.
I was discussing with an old man who I’ll call ‘The Old Bookseller’ yesterday. He had as usual brought me some books he thought’d interest me. I browsed through them and almost picked one before the Bio of the Author stopped me from purchasing the items.
I was put off by his profile indicating he was neck deep in what I’d call New Age mysteries and though the book was a topic I’d have loved to read I refrained because of who the author was portrayed as.
I explained my scepticism to the Old bookseller who wisely (i concluded) said there were many paths of knowledge but truly all Wisdom, and all Knowledge comes from God. Therefore instead of shrinking back, use your light i.e. the Light of God to sift and sieve as you read.
The Old bookseller said a lot more which helped me and truly I have read so many books whose authors were influenced by systems I have no idea exist and though I know I still chose to proceed cautiously. I wonder if have not learnt the lesson my Dad was trying to pass across so many years ago.

No matter how ‘unimportant’ we think it (or ‘em) there surely is always one thing we can learn if we put our minds to it. True, very true.
